Some of the world’s most famous and revered classic racing motorcycles kicked-off this year’s Isle of Man TT races with a re-enactment of the first ever race.

The re-enactment happened yesterday at the famous St Johns section of the course with Rem Fowler’s 1907 winning machine flagged away at 10.00am - exactly 100 years to the minute, after the start of the first-ever TT.

A clutch of other bikes then started in pairs at 30-second intervals. After the event the machines were set on display in a special concours area at Tynwald Green.

Adrian Earnshaw, Isle of Man Minister of Tourism and Leisure said: “Over the years, no races have contributed more to the story of motorcycling than the TT, and our aim has been to re-create, as closely as we can, the scene at St John's on May 28, 1907.”

Geoff Duke, OBE, will unveil a plaque adjacent to the original start line to mark 100 years since the start of the first TT Races.

The parade followed the roads comprising the original TT circuit, the St John’s Course including Ballacraine, Kirk Michael, Peel and St Johns.
