I’ve just got back from my 3588-mile riding holiday to France, Spain and Portugal. It seems weird just riding to work today and not grinding out hundreds of miles in the sunshine, on the wrong side of the road, like I’ve been doing for the past eight days.

Although the roads down the west coast of France, across the top of Spain and down into Portugal were a bit straight and boring, the ride back across the Pyrenees was something else.

When you’ve got mountains you can be sure of twisty roads and perfect views. We crossed the Pyrenees half way across Spain, starting on the A-138 in Spain and popping out in France the other side. From there we took the twisty route to Carcassone and they were among the best roads I’ve ridden in my life. I wish I could go back and do it again.

You can read full details of my trip and how my Hyperstrada faired in MCN soon and I’ll be producing a video, so look out for that on www.motorcyclenews.com or our You Tube channel.

Now it’s office duties until Thursday when I head to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. I’ll be staying in the MCN van all weekend, so will be using my Ducati as transport every night to go out and find myself a spot of dinner.
