2003 was the year Kawasaki decided to make the ZX-6R hardcore. Gone was the (relative) comfort and practicality of the old model in favour of track-focus and zero compromise. This is bike that you have to ride hard to appreciate, if you plan to bimble about occasionally or make the odd distance trip, look elsewhere.

It may be a few years old now, but for its day the ZX-6R was very technologically advanced so it still stacks up pretty well. For your money you get LED brake lights, lap timer, radial brakes and USD forks.

The Kawasaki ZX-6R has a cheeky 36cc advantage over it's middleweight rivals, giving it a dose more midrange alongside it's screaming top end.

A hugger comes as standard, which is great when buying used as the shock has been protected. The paint on the tank scratches easily, so be suspicious of tank covers or pads. Check the lock stops and head races for damage and look out for warped discs - a common problem.
