Used Motorcycles: KTM Duke II buyers guide

Used price: £1,000-£3,140
Engine: 4v 625cc single cylinder, 6 gears
Power: 55bhp
Top speed: 110mph
Weight: 152kg

The KTM Duke II could be the most fun commuter ever. It's a streetmoto, designed for inner city fun or weekend back lane scratching. It's tough, full of atittude and looks great parked up in the city.

The Duke II's grunty single cylinder 625cc lump has superb power delivery - all of the power comes in at low revs, with peak torque at 5000rpm. That plus a dry weight of 152kg is a recipe for easy peasy wheelies.

The Duke II boasts some pretty high spec parts, such as brutal brembo brakes, WP suspension and cool cast wheels. On a wet track day there wouldn't be many faster bikes through the corners.

The Duke II is pretty solid and well finished, but look for low milage examples. Bikes that have close to 25,000 on the clock may be due a veyr pricey re-build.

KTM's are not cheap to buy - but with labels like 'Brembo' and 'WP' you can see where the money goes. But they tend to hold their value well and owners often don't do too many miles, making them a decent used buy.
