The Buell XB12R is a real mix of ideas. It's an old-school 1203cc Harley v-twin mated to a thoroughly modern and nimble sportsbike chassis - but it works. In fact its better than that, many rate the current Buell family of bikes as some of the best handlers out there.

The Firebolt's air-cooled v-twin might be old fashioned, but thats part of the charm. It means the XB12R Firebolt doesn't offer the screaming to-end rush of other sportsbikes, but it has stacks of torque and drives out of corners brilliantly.

The handling is extremely responsive. It manages to be very responsive yet remain stable and composed at the same time. It's a focused ride though, if you're not in the modd to go for it, it can feel like a handful.

The Buell XB12R Firebolt is a focused sportsbike, so don't expect much in the way of practicality. Clocks are basic and there's not much space for pillions, but there is a couple of bungee hooks under the seat.

Older Buells had issues with reliability and build quality, but they've gotten better. Electrical problems are not unheard of and the finish doesn't stand up well to winter. Be prepared to look after it if you buy one.
