Don't let motorcycle insurance issues ruin your ride

Insurance, whether it's motorcycle insurance, house, car or life, is a contract and contracts have terms and conditions that can catch you out, especially in these days of telephone selling and direct debits.
Rod Hallam's partner had insured her bike for the last year with a big company, but decided to place her business with a local broker when her cover came to an end.
He was surprised to find on his next credit card statement a £158 debit from the previous insurer. When he phoned to query he was told this is automatically taken unless they've been informed otherwise.
Despite canceling the policy on the day he received the card statement, out of the £158 premium he received just £34.95p back.
Check your policy carefully and make sure you keep the insurer informed of your actions or it could be expensive.
