Motorcycle insurance costs are an important consideration for any bike buyer. That's why MCN is highlighting some of the best cheap-to-insure motorcycles out there. This time it's the Kawasaki Versys 650.

Insurance group: 9
Engine: 649cc parallel twin
Power: 60bhp
Top speed: 128mph
Weight: 181kg

The Kawasaki Versys 650 is a perfect do-anything bike, especially for novices or returning bikers and taller folk. At under £6000 new the Versys is a bargain all-round bike.

You could be forgiven into thinking the Versys isn’t up to much in terms of performance but you would be wrong, the parallel twin has some real punch and on paper produces are respectful 64 bhp. It’s got plenty of torque to loft the front easily, and is perfect for darting around town.

The Versys turns easily, with a very tight turning circle, you can just jump on the Kawasaki Versys and have fun, making the Kawasaki Versys ideal for new riders. The Versys can handle anything from boring otorway and city commutes to fast laps round Cadwell Park
