Getting kitted out for the first time can make a big hole in your budget but the MCN web shop is a good place to start.
Refining your search using the 'prices from' filter on the left of the screen throws up some great choices, starting at just ₤19.99 for Lewis Panther gloves up to ₤49.99 for Café Racer Street II gloves, both sets working well in the spring to autumn riding time.
But if you are a 50 week-a-year commuter the Weise Cambridge glove, which is really a mitt for ₤39.99 is worth considering.
If you are an all-weather rider on a budget then you'll want waterproof boots and they are available for as little as ₤42.12 for some Spada Thunders, with Hurricanes costing ₤45.95. At the top end of the value section are Buffalo Track boots for ₤55.99.
A tenner for a pair of biking trousers? Hard to believe, but Swift Speed pants and Tech 7 Saturn trousers are both on our site at that price.
They are waterproof and claim some abrasion resistance too. They aren't overtrousers, but you can always carry your jeans in a rucksack and get changed at your destination if you want.
Finally, Spada's 940 textile jacket will give you that waterproof outer layer and some body armour for less than ₤50 all in. So that gets you kitted out from top to toe for less than ₤130!
