HI. I understand at traffic lights its better when turning right to pass the car on the offside so you get a better view to turning right.  however I been driving 20 yrs and very rarely see this happen.  how would I instigate such a move should I be first at the junction. I have my mod2 soon and now starting to wonder about this !!? I just read a lad failed for this or am I chatting shite!

Pillion knee problems

Hi there. I was hoping someone could help or suggest some equipment or clothing that may help with my knee problems?I ride pillion on my boyfriends Suzuki GSX 1250 and he's a great rider, no safety concerns at all and I'm a very happy pillion :o)However, recently my knees have started causing me huge problems (I'm only 28!) so much so that we have to stop every 20-30 mins so I can stretch out my legs which is unbelievably painful but subsides fairly quickly when my knees kind of pop. Sounds gross and it is doctor-worthy, but we had wondered ...

Mod 2 struggles, Tips?

Hey all. Had 2 years on cbt riding every day come rain, shine, snow or ice, took the plunge 2 months ago and started going about getting a proper license.Managed to pass Mod 1 no minors 2nd time round (locked rear wheel on emergency stop 1st go). Managed to fail Mod 2 twice now and wondering if it might be time for more lessons? (although the school I'm with assure me there is no need). 1st Mod 2 I failed with one serious fault and no minors for turning nearside to nearside with an oncoming vehicle (both of us turning ...

What's with the leg?

I am a nodder, That is, I like to nod and get a nod back from other bikers. Some do, some don't and it's ok either way. However I can't get my head round bikers that stick their leg out to cars (or bikes) that they pass. Have you seen that? Not only does it look naff (in my humble opinion) it also suggests they are too frightened to take a hand off the bars to give a friendly wave. Or am I missing something?

125cc to 600cc. Death wish?

Hello I've been riding my existing bike for over 6 years and have done nearly 30k miles. I wanted to get a larger bike. I've passed my A2 test and now want to get something larger. Have looked and sat on a NC700s DCT but haven't ridden (due to the restriction). Is it a wise idea to jump? Thanks in advance

DAS Mod 2 Question, Should I have Failed?

Ok done DAS mod 2 couple of weeks ago. Got back to the test centre only to be told I had failed. BUT.....was the reason I failed a valid one? After reading up on certain topics im not so sure. Here goes.I was riding into the town. We approached a zebra crossing. There was a few pedestrians at the side of the road. They werent on the crossing or attempting to cross it. They were simply waiting to cross ON THE PAVEMENT.I carried on going. The examiner stopped behind me to let them cross. When I got back to ...

lifesaver

Perhaps this topic is a bit dull  and has been discussed on many occasions but I guess it always can help to check with people who have more experience.I am a bit confused about the lifesaver checks on roundabouts. I am not asking about indicating or glancing , just the lifesavers.I guess there is no issue with going right on the roundabout as most people have the same idea of left on the approach and left on the exit. But the views are divided on the left turns and straights on the roundabouts.Left turn  on the R'abouton turning left some say you need to take a quick left LS on your ...

Speeding safely

In this weeks' MCN, Mark Edwards says all police riders (or ex police riders) speed once they get to 60/70mph zones, if the road and conditions are safe. But if Joe Public was seen riding at 100mph, wouldn't he or she be pulled over straight away, regardless of riding conditions?

Big Bike Wobbles

I have just bought myself a lovely new Ducati Monster M696.  It is fab and my dream bike, so very happy with it.However, I have a couple of issues.  I have dropped it twice already - just little ones - nothing major or in a dangerous situation.  Is there anyway to assist keeping a bike from going over?  Build the strength in my legs etc?  Or is it unrealistic to think I could keep it up.Also, my front brakes is very 'stabby'.  A small squeeze on the front brake when i'm coming to a stop is enough to give me ...
