HOC members pay their respects

Stritchy, 11 November 2012 20:35

Along with hundreds of other bikers, HOC members from Oxford, Cambridge, Beds, North London, North Downs, Reading, Northants, MK and West London branches went to Duxford Museum on Remembrance Sunday. We went to pay our respects and do the very least we can, by simply standing together in silence for two minutes and remembering. Beautiful in its simplicity.

My Yamaha YZR500 Norick Abe replica

Wolfgang Hromada, 09 November 2012 20:17

I am from Austria. I have built a replica of Norick Abe´s 1999 YZR500 based on a Yamaha RD500 engine. Modifications and one-off parts are a long list, it took me six years to complete the bike.  Some of the photos attached also show a similar bike of a friend of mine, this is Checa´s YZR500 based on a stock RZ500 chassis.

My experience of module 1

Patrick Jarvis, 08 November 2012 13:31

On Tuesday 6 November I passed my module 1 test with no minors. Before I sat the test I decided it would be sensible to research to prepare myself. Yet what I found was chaotic to say the least. Firstly I was on internet forums, and found people complaining about how the test is carried out, that they dropped the bike ...

Motorcycle Headstone

Jon Young, 07 November 2012 15:48

Not something you see every day. Was on a push bike tour across France earlier in the year and stopped to take a photo of a rather photogenic church in Anneville-Ambourville in Normandy. It was only when I'd done this that I noticed one of the gravestones was significantly different from the rest and required closer inspection. I know little ...

NY biking post Hurricane Sandy

robert harwood-matthews, 01 November 2012 16:40

In a city seemingly dominated by hipsters on Triumphs, city boys on Ducati's or BMW's and a handful of fairly loony, LED lit sportsbikes, the biker is still an outsider here in New York. It is in no way as mainstream as say Paris or London. There are no bike parking bays, removeable license plates are the norm, roads are ...

Finally back on the road!

Phil B, 16 August 2012 19:35

Having grown up riding trials bikes I thought I should get on the road, so I passed my test in 2005 and bought myself a KTM. I loved that machine and there wasn't much that could live with it on bumpy back roads. However, in 2007 a white van driver pulled into my path. I bounced off the side of the Transit and landed heavily, crushing a some of ...

'Repaired' road in Ipswich

Adam Cooper, 24 July 2012 21:16

My mate saw this today in Ipswich. It looks like whoever repaired it previously didn't do a very good job!

Avon Tyres Road Hazard Scheme

Nick Cushing, 21 July 2012 08:38

I would like to say a big thank you to Avon for replacing the Storm 2 rear tyre on my Kawasaki Z750. The tyre had done 1150 miles when I picked up a 5mm screw. Luckily I had heard about this scheme and managed to claim through my bike shop and supplier. I can only say that this was fantastic after ...

Kawasaki ER six month appraisal

DazLoczy, 02 July 2012 14:52

I’ve had the ER6n for over six months now and it’s just gone through its 4000 mile service with no issues. The only thing to note is I’d overfilled it with oil which seemed to have a slight affect on the MPG. Having said all that I’ve just managed 67.9mpg on my last 100 mile ride which is a personal best. It ...
