2012 GSX-R1000: bigger midrange, new brakes and better fuel economy

Suzuki’s 2012 GSX-R1000 gets new Brembo Monobloc brakes, more midrange power and is 2kg lighter than this year’s model. Though Suzuki list dozens of changes to the outgoing model, the majority are subtle – anyone hoping for BMW-beating traction control or dramatic power increases will be disappointed.  Here are the highlights: 2kg off the kerb weight Brembo’s Monobloc calipers More ...

Dainese Thorax Wave Pro Chest and Back Protector

Dainese Thorax Wave Pro Chest and Back Protector, £199Miles covered/time: 600 miles/one week What’s good: Firstly, it’s light and comfortable. I wore this Dainese body armour for 10 hours a day during a recent touring trip in Italy where temperatures seldom dropped below 30°C and was deeply impressed I didn’t die of heat exhaustion. The numerous holes, channels and raised areas allow ...

The Monotracer: What do you think?

This is a Monotracer; a £100,000 fully-enclosed motorcycle powered by a BMW K1200 engine. In one form or another, they’ve been around for decades, and MCN has generally placed them on the pile marked ‘Interesting but largely irrelevant’ because of their price. But a Monotracer fan keeps pestering us to write more about them in the newspaper so we’d like ...

Staff bikes: Moto Guzzi Griso SE - V7 Classic snaffled by actress

Just when I was learning to love the V7 Classic and its gentle take on motorcycling life, it has been snatched away from me. Moto Guzzi have reclaimed it, and sent it on a far more glamourous mission: it must now provide post-test transport for a celebrity. Yes, my humble V7 is currently ferrying Gill Halfpenny between her beautiful celebrity ...

These are the first photos of Honda’s 2012 Fireblade. Besides the new angular styling, the bike has Big Piston Forks, new rear suspension, new clocks and lightweight wheels.
