Husaberg ditches supermotos after selling 7 in 2010

Guy Procter, 01 June 2011 17:13

Husaberg has ditched the last of its supermoto models after selling just 7 in the UK last year. The innovative FS 570 four-stroke was the last of the Swedish supermotos to remain in the 2011 lineup, but in spite of favourable reviews and its novel laid-down single cylinder engine, it was able to shift only four units. More encouragingly Husaberg ...

Ducati burns the history books with new 1199 superbike

Guy Procter, 01 June 2011 10:14

The first spy shot of Ducati's 1198-replacing new superbike confirms the firm is a lot less sentimental about traditional Ducati characteristics than many fans. The result is the most extreme V-twin ever, but with its RSV4-alike tail, Kawasaki-style side-mounted shock and Buell-pattern belly-mounted exhaust it's without question less distinctively Ducati. But the fact is the firm can't afford to care. ...

Video: the Ducati Diavel that went racing

Guy Procter, 27 May 2011 16:47

It's got the power to out-drag a Ducati 1198 and it can out-brake one too. So why is nobody racing the highly-acclaimed new Ducati Diavel? Well, several reasons actually, but thinking it through would have taken all the fun out of finding out. You can find out more about exactly how this experiment ended up in next week's MCN.

New Ducati: £6k, 220kg, 5.7bhp?

Guy Procter, 26 May 2011 15:49

It’s £6100, manageably powerful, made in Bologna and a Ducati - but will it displace the 696 Monster on many entry-level Duke wishlists? Possibly not, despite besting it on weather protection and tank range. It’s the latest, as yet unannounced iteration of the FreeDuck hybrid quadricycle (a car you can drive on a bike license). And yes it is made ...

The bikes Honda wants to build 4m a year of

Guy Procter, 26 May 2011 14:46

Honda says it will build FOUR MILLION of these little beauties, along with their Unicorn, Stunner and Activa siblings, each year by 2013. The £570 CB Twister 110 and £720 CB Shine 125 will form the bulk of the growth in output from the three mega-factories Honda will have running in India by late 2012. If they hit their target Honda ...

New MV Agusta F4 RR - quicker yet slower

Guy Procter, 11 May 2011 12:57

MV Agusta has seized on a critical lull in new sportsbike activity to launch the most powerful production superbike ever, the F4 RR ‘Corsacorta’. MV hopes the £17,999, 201bhp, 998cc halo version of 2010’s relaunched F4 will take advantage of an increasingly jaded-looking field of competitors, and steal a march on Ducati’s new flagship superbike, due in November. But interestingly none ...

American electric bike manufacturer Brammo is launching four new models featuring 'a game-changing mechatronic propulsion unit that emulates the feeling and performance of a traditional internal combustion engine'. Principally, the technology – dubbed IET, for Integrated Electric Transmission – offers the rider six gears, enabling them to balance or maximise acceleration, top speed and range, just like they would on ...

Why Rossi has Ducati worried sick about their new superbike

Guy Procter, 04 May 2011 09:31

It’s November 2011. MotoGP’s just finished with [insert Stoner/Lorenzo/Pedrosa/Spies here] and Rossi, um, fifth. Press releases are hurriedly despatched – ‘It was his shoulder!’; ‘It was mainly his shoulder but also the engine still needed a tweak!’; ‘You should see our 1000!’. But the whole world knows ‘the truth’. It’s The Chassis. The frameless/stressed airbox/monocoque/call-it-what-you-will chassis, which comprises a stiff ...

Video: S1000RR faster than an M3 even in the wet

Guy Procter, 03 May 2011 17:00

BMW's M3 saloon is lame, according to a shock video admission by the firm itself. It’s released this video of its ‘fastest’ four-wheeler racing its fastest bike in what we can only interpret as a farewell to the car-making business. They could have waited for a dry day to make it a fair fight, but no, so determined were they ...
