MP hits out at new licence laws

The outspoken MP said: "We have managed perfectly satisfactorily for many years running our own motorcycle tests so why do we need to import one from the EU which will cost millions of pounds? Road improvements to cause delays

A £2M road improvement scheme put in place to ease traffic problems is set to increase traffic as the works get underway. Work is to begin today to widen the approach to Bardills roundabout on the A52 in Nottinghamshire and also install traffic light. The dual carriageway will be reduced to one lane until the changes are completed in August.

£1.4 million test centre for Scunthorpe

Construction company Bluestones has been awarded a £1.4 million contract to build a new test centre in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. It will be used for both bikes and cars with test surfaces as well as a testing centre ready for the new motorcycle test that is due to change in 2008.

ASBO boy behind bars for riding bike

A 15-year-old boy from Mitcham, Surrey, has received a four month detention order after police caught him riding a motorcycle which was a breach of his Antisocial Behaviour Order. The teenager who was excluded from school and given a two year ASBO was not allowed to operate any motor vehicle under the order. Police arrested him late last month riding ...

'Blood bikes' hit the road

A group of motorcycling volunteers from Gloucestershire have set-up a biking emergency service to make quick life-saving deliveries after hours, at weekends and on public holidays. Young bikers on the rise

AA Insurance’s latest survey of people insuring bikes has revealed that the amount of young people getting on bikes has risen by 40% in the last five years. The survey also showed that one fifth of female bikers are above retirement age.

1098 wins design award

Members of the Motorcycle Design Association have voted the Ducati 1098 as the best bike design of 2006. Over 130 bike designers, design consultancies and in-house design teams voted with the Ducati taking the overall prize. The Derbi Senda Terra 125 also on the junior category and Benelli’s 756 Due won the open class.
