Yamaha offers XT-RA insurance

Yamaha has extended its offer of free third party only motorcycle insurance on the Yamaha XT125R and Yamaha XT125X learner motorcycles until the end of August 2007.   Yamaha is also offering subsidised third party and theft motorcycle insurance rates; £225 for customers aged 17-20, £125 for those aged 21-24 and £75 for those aged 25-over.

Just one in 6000 illegal mobile phone users caught

Only one in six thousand motorists who use their phones behind the wheel in London are caught and fined. The study conducted by the Liberal Democrats showed 50 fixed-penalty notices were handed out every day despite 2.6 per cent of motorists each day are spotted using a phone.

Motorcycle retailers call for new road design to save bikers

The head of the Motorcycle Retailers Association has called for better roads to cut motorcycle accidents. Mike Owen said, “Improving road design and conditions would greatly reduce the number of motorcycle accidents in the UK, as these factors cause far more crashes than inappropriate speed.” Owen included better manhole placement and tightening of bends in his list of improvements
