BMW S1000RR HP4 arrives at dealers

BMW’s new S1000RR HP4 has arrived at UK dealers. The enhanced S1000RR litre sports bike features dynamic traction control, race ABS and semi-active suspension. The HP4 Carbon has extras including a carbon-fibre tank cover. They cost £16,700 and £19,350 respectively. There are over 80 BMW S1000RRs for sale at MCN bikes for sale, find one here.

Yamaha to make 250 sports bike

Yamaha has said it will make a 250cc sports bike. The YZF-R250 is expected to have similar styling to the R6, as in the above mock-up, doing the internet rounds. It’s not clear if the 2014 Indian model will come here.

Chances running out for under-24s to do Direct Access

Only a few chances remain for under-24-year-olds to do a single Direct Access bike test for an unrestricted motorcycle licence. Riders currently have to be 21 for Direct Access but the minimum age is rising.  The DSA said: ‘Test slots are now nearly fully booked until January 19, when the new rules come into force.’ Younger riders are also affected. ...

Motorcycle and scooter brands are top in a league of vehicle makes most likely to be stolen.  Researchers compared the number of vehicles on the road from car and motorcycle manufacturers to the number recorded as stolen on the Police National Computer. French plans for compulsory high-visibility motorcycle clothing have been withdrawn. French government had proposed making riders wear at least 150 square-centimetres of reflective material. Big bikes escape EU anti-tampering measures

Motorcycles producing over 47bhp have escaped EU plans to make bikes impossible for owners to modify.  European Parliament has voted in favour of limiting so-called anti-tampering measures to smaller machines.  All new bikes over 125cc will get ABS under the regulation approved by MEPs.
