Call to ban smoking and driving

The Local Authority Road Safety Officers Association is calling to ban smoking while driving to cut accident rates. Simon Ettinghausen said last week that the forthcoming ban on smoking in public places may make it more tempting to smoke whilst driving.

M1 is top congestion spot

A report has shown that the most congested spot in the UK is the M1 from junction 6a to junction 11. Two spots on the M25 came second and third in the RAC/Trafficmaster report, and the fourth and fifth busiest spots were both on the M6.

Fatal crash exhibition

An exhibition has just opened in Leeds depicting the aftermath of fatal crashes to convince motorists to drive carefully. The images are all staged by actors, and include accidents involving bikes. The exhibition at the Whitehall Waterfront is open until April 28, and will tour other venues across the country.

Biker injured in hit-and-run

South Wales police are searching for the driver of a silver Ford Escort who hit a biker and drove away from the scene. The accident happened at 9:27 on the evening of Sunday, April 1 2007, on the junction of Addison Road and Moorland Road in Port Talbot. Anyone with information should call 01792 456999.
