Staff Blog: Swings and roundabouts

Richard Newland, 05 June 2013 10:42

Every bike will delight and frustrate you to some extent – it’s an inevitable truth. While touches of pure and simple genius will provide fodder to evangelise to your friends, there will always be those ‘what were they thinking’ facets that tug at the back of your happiness, and which you hope no-one else picks up on. The GS isn’t ...

BMW S1000RR HP4 first ride: "Is it a huge leap over the standard S1000RR?"

Michael Neeves, 04 September 2012 10:14

I’ve just finished my second riding session on the new BMW S1000RR HP4 at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain. As well as having lighter wheels, a titanium Akrapovic exhaust and improved electronic rider aids, it’s the first production bike to have electronically-adjustable rebound and compression damping (Dynamic Damping Adjustment). You still need to manually adjust the suspension, albeit via ...

BMW C650GT first ride: “takes scooter equipment to a new level”

Steve Farrell, 12 March 2012 17:08

The BMW C650 GT is one of the most sophisticated scooters yet - and the first to cost over £10,000. I've just ridden the new super scooter at the launch in Madrid. With heated seat and grips, ABS and electronically adjustable screen, it takes scooter equipment to a new level. It's got the go of a middleweight motorcycle - just ...

Michael Neeves blog – Off Road Skills

Michael Neeves, 18 October 2011 12:23

I’ve just returned from two days in Wales with Paris Dakar legend Simon Pavey, at his off-road school, or the ‘Odd Road Skills, powered by World of BMW and Husqvarna’, to give it its full name. It was the best riding school I’ve ever been to. I’ll readily admit I’m an off-road numpty. I love the idea of riding in ...

Staff bikes: BMW G650GS - Corrosion sets in

Steve Farrell, 09 August 2011 13:28

I really like my G650GS. So I’m massively disappointed to report that the paintwork doesn’t seem to be up to much. Corrosion is already beginning to appear in places and it’s not yet had to endure a single winter. A BMW spokesman said: ‘Obviously I can’t really comment on the cause of the corrosion until the bike has been inspected. ...

Michael Neeves, 05 August 2011 13:35

Well, that was another fantastic weekend racing with Bemsee in the MRO Powerbike championship. Championship leader Rob McNealy stretched out his lead on ...

MCN to race BMW S1000RR in MRO Championship

Michael Neeves, 21 January 2011 10:14

We may have just clicked into 2011, but my racing season has well and truly started. I’m pleased to be riding for the BMW Park Lane team again on their rapid BMW S1000RR in the MRO championship. Instead of racing with the Stocksport 1000 boys, like last year, I’m returning to the open-class Powerbike championship. The best thing about MRO ...
