Steve McQueen's Brough Superior to be auctioned

1 of 1

A 1931 Brough Superior SS80 that once belonged to Steve McQueen and US customiser Von Dutch is to be put under the hammer at the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance in August.

In the late 1970’s McQueen gifted the SS80 to Von Dutch (Kenny Howard) under the condition that when Von Dutch died, the bike would be returned to McQueen. Von Dutch outlived McQueen by twelveyears. The McQueen SS80 has an estimate of $100,000 to $200,000.

The last historically important Brough to come up for auction was a 1925 SS100 Alpine Grand Sport prototype owned and ridden by founder George Brough. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it failed to meet its $700,000 guide price at a New York auction last December.
