MCN’s Executive Editor Phil West is at Norton’s factory near Derby preparing to ride the first new Norton Commando 961 off the production line.
Apart from Norton test riders, West will be the first person on the planet to ride the new production Norton.
He sent this report: “I’ve just been chatting to the engineers who told me they’ve been putting the bike through shakedown tests this week.
"It looks fantastic in the flesh – the fully adjustable Ohlins forks, carbon wheels, carbon mudguard and carbon hugger all add to the feel of a classy machine.
"I can’t wait to ride it. The weather’s brightening up now, so I should be allowed out soon.”
