Honda Crosstourer first ride: "One of the best mile munchers in class"

The Honda Crosstourer is Honda’s all-new adventure bike – aimed squarely at bikes like the BMW R1200GS and Yamaha Super Tenere. Powered by the same V4 engine from the VFR1200, the Crosstourer is available with manual gearshift or Honda’s Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT).

MCN Executive Editor Phil West has been riding the bike at the launch in Spain and these are his first impressions:

“I’ve been riding both the manual and DCT versions of Honda’s flagship adventure bike all day and I have to say I’m impressed. Although undeniably a big and heavy bike, the detuned V4 engine is perfectly suited to the role.

“Its features more than enough electronic aids and gizmos such as traction control and sophisticated instrumentation to make it worthy of the flagship tag. It’s comfortable, good looking, classily finished and undoubtedly one of the best mile munchers in the class.

“But although it’ll never scratch as sharply as a Multistrada, it brings true grand touring ability to this class of bike, enough to make it a tempting alternative to a proper grand tourer.”
