Peter Fonda has completed his first timed lap at Goodwood on a replica of his legendary Captain America chopper from Easy Rider.

Fonda is celebrating 40 years since the release of Easy Rider, which he co-wrote, produced and starred in.

Released in 1969 to huge international acclaim, Fonda and co-star Dennis Hopper lived up to their countercultural image by smoking dope for real in the film and making up most of it as they went along.

Fonda’s bike is just one of a number of custom choppers at the 2009 Festival of Speed.

A dedicated class of custom choppers, including Zeroesque and Speed Demon, will form part of the Cartier ‘Style et Luxe,’ an annual vehicle design concours at Goodwood for the most beautiful and rarely-seen cars and motorcycles from around the world.
