English WSB star Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne has bought a Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special to ride when away from the rigours of racing.
The Team Sterilgarda rider, currently lying ninth in the WSB championship table on a Ducati 1098R, took delivery of the machine today (Tuesday, 13 October) from famed London-based Warrs Harley-Davidson.
Byrne’s decision to buy the Night Rod Special came as no surprise to Warrs’ Fulfilment Supervisor, Martin Szlagowski: ‘Shakey had the use of a demo Night Rod a few months back and fell in love with it.
"We mentioned about fitting some personal and tuning parts and a deal was agreed. I guess he feels he gets all his speed and hard cornering intake on the track and just wants something stylish and safe when he’s at home.
"I tend to think he’ll be back for new footpegs way before the first service interval.’
The aftermarket accessories supplied by Warrs include black control levers. The most noticeable change is the Reinhart 2-1 full length exhaust system, just part of the Stage 1 tuning kit supplied and fitted by Warrs.
Other parts involved are a K&N airfilter and the ignition and injection reset to suit via a Screamin’ Eagle Super-tune.
Harley-Davidson’s Night Rod Special is just one bike of the American company’s liquid-cooled 60° V-twin VRSC range, retailing at £12,880.
