Kawasaki GTR1400 panniers: A problem!

Owners of the Kawasaki GTR1400 be warned - there is a design flaw regarding the panniers.
Whilst surfing the internet by pure chance I came across an article in ZX forums regarding the removal of the side cases without the key.
Also a video link accompanied the article showing how its done. I sent the video link (http://yfrog.com/9ggtr1400z)to my Kawasaki dealer.
He at first disbelieved what he was watching. He tried to remove the cases on one of his showroom bikes and would you believe it, it was removed without the key.
Shocked by this he immediately got in touch with Kawasaki UK, only to be told that they are aware of this problem.
I am a bit dismayed that Kawasaki have not informed all owners of this potential hazard.
If it can be removed with ease off the bike, can it come off after bouncing over a pot hole?
