Dealer offers lifetime warranty on new bikes

A dealer will be offering free lifetime warranties on all new motorcycles sold from September 1st.

The lifetime warranty given by Bridge Motorcycles in Exeter will act as an extension to the manufacturers warranty. This means that if in 10 years the engine blew up due to a manufacturing fault, the customer would be given a new one.

Bridge Motorcycles in Exeter is the dealer running the scheme. Dan Anthony, assistant manager of Bridge said: “The warranty will be given on every single new bike we sell and all the customer has to do is bring the bike to us for its services and MOTs.”

The bike has to be serviced at Bridge in accordance to the manufacturer’s guidelines.

The warranty does not cover service items such as brake pads or parts that need replacing due to general wear and tear such as chains and sprockets.

The customer would not be able to modify the bike from the manufacturer’s original specification or use the bike for training, hire, competition or racing as this would void the warranty.

In the event that the bike has a problem, the customer would have to transport it to the dealer themselves for it to be repaired.

Dan Anthony, continued: “We, like most other bike dealers have previously offered various warranties for various time periods at an additional cost to the customer.

“Bridge wanted to offer something unique that would benefit our customers and give us an edge over our competitors.  After some thinking and calculating we realised a life time warranty was the way to go.

“As far as we know there is currently nowhere in England offering the same service that we will be offering, in the way we are offering it.”

The scheme will be launched on the September 1st to coincide with the new 61 registration.
