A major fire has destroyed the Swansea headquarters of Europe's largest motorcycle parts and accessories company, M&P Motorcycles.

The company has temporarily re-located to nearby premises where they are currently holding a crisis meeting.

Firefighters were called to the premises in Gorseinon just before 11.30pm on Saturday evening and by midnight onlookers reported that three-quarters of the building was alight. The whole of the building was affected by the blaze, however, all customer bikes that were in the workshop were saved.

Fire Officer Steve Bryant said that the fire developed quickly and crews worked to protect nearby buildings, including an adjacent furniture company.

The fire at M&P Motorcycles was within close proximity of the old Mettoys factory in Fforestfach, where a serious tyre blaze has been burning since 16 June.
