Triumph 'Sit Down Tour' - Ross Noble to ride round UK

TV funnyman Ross Noble is riding around Britain on this special Speed Triple built to commemorate 500,000 Triumphs made at the Hinckley factory.

The star’s ‘Sit Down Tour’ starts from the Triumph factory and will take Noble through England, Scotland and Wales before finishing on May 30.

His route is secret, but Noble will reveal his location daily on Twitter (@realrossnoble) so MCN readers can ride out to meet him. Noble says he will change his route based on Twitter followers’ suggestions – so if you want him to pop round for a cup of tea or you want to offer him a bed at your house, get Tweeting.

Noble said: “I’ll be riding a great British bike around Great Britain which will be great. People can follow me on Twitter and also tweet me things to do and places to go, which means the contact you get with other riders when you’re out and about can be extended to the non-bike-riding fraternity.”

Not only is the tour a celebration of the 500,000th bike off the production line since the rebonrn firm started production in 1991, it also marks 20 years of Noble as a stand-up comic.

And though he’s well used to standing alone in front of packed halls and appearing on some of the UK’s biggest TV shows, he says he’s far more nervous about riding round the UK.

Unique Triumph Speed Triple

The Speed Triple carries the VIN number 500,000 and features a red, white and blue paintscheme specified by Noble. The new burnished-metal-style paint finish is expected to be appear on Triumph’s new 2012 range when it is launched in the autumn.

Commenting on the Sit Down Tour, Guy Masters, general manager of Triumph UK, said “Reaching the 500,000th bike in just twenty years is a terrific achievement and a credit to the hard work of everyone at Triumph and our dealer partners globally.

“To mark the occasion and celebrate our British roots, we wanted to do something that gave our a customers a chance to get involved. We were delighted when Ross agreed to help us mark the milestone with his tour, which will involve dealers, riders and fans across the UK.”

The Newcastle-born TV celebrity and bike nut will raise money for biking’s favourite charity, Riders for Health, by auctioning the bike off at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 1 July.

Noble has previously embarked on a stand-up tour of Australia riding a BMW R1200GS between gigs and is shortly to enter the Red Bull Romaniacs, one of the world’s toughest enduros.
