Racers Bradley Smith and Simon Crafar donate to Help for Heroes auction

Moto2 GP racer Bradley Smith and 500GP winner Simon Crafar have joined forces to back a Biker’s Breakfast charity event by donating a signed crash helmet and memorabilia to be auctioned to raise money for Help For Heroes.

The fantastic collector’s piece, worn by Bradley at the Le Mans GP weekend this year, will be auctioned on Sunday, June 12 in Essex.

The auction, organised by Eurotrax, an Essex-based Track Day Company, is taking place at the 8 Ball Diner located near Colchester on the A12 (Northbound) between Witham and Kelvedon. The event will run from 8.30am – 2pm, with the auction, hosted by local Heart FM DJ, Martin Day, taking place at lunchtime.

Shaun Case, Director of Eurotrax, said: “We have wanted to do something for Help for Heroes for some time and then, a few weeks ago, I opened the local newspaper to see the tragic picture of my son’s nursery teacher with her newborn at her husband’s funeral.

“Only weeks before she had been so excited that he had managed to get time off duty to be at the birth of their first son. I was both shocked and touched, and from that point wanted to give something back.

“The response has been amazing with every bike shop, supplier and company that we have approached giving generously and without hesitation. As well as the signed race memorabilia from the GP riders, donations include VIP Hospitality tickets to BSB and WSB plus general bike clothing and maintenance items.

“We have managed to secure items for the auction that every biker, whatever their ability, would need or find useful. We even have a CBT course on offer for any newcomers.”

Alongside the auction will be a number of other fund raising activities and bike related stands, including a raffle to win a track weekend, opportunities to ride the new K1600GT or S1000RR in exchange for a donation, plus £2 from every breakfast being donated to the charity.

All proceeds from the event will be donated specifically towards the new  Personal Recovery Centre in Colchester, launched to provide injured and sick soldiers additional care and support to help their successful return to duties or civilian life.

The event is expected to attract a high volume of bikers and additional parking space has been arranged at the Fox public house nearby.
