Brough Superior founder George Brough’s own race bike is to be sold at auction.

The 1922 Brough Superior SS80, which was affectionately known as Spit and Polish, was raced by Brough and set an unnoficial 100mph lap at the Brooklands circuit.

After a crash at Brooklands, Brough rebuilt the bike with a JAP engine and new front forks and renamed it Old Bill. Brough won 51 races on the machine.

The bike is expected to fetch £250,000 – £270,000.

Other bikes for sale at the auction include a 1935 Indian Four and 1929 Rudge Ulster. See the full list here.
