Last week saw the annual meeting of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, the governing body of national and international motorcycling, in Monte Carlo.

One of the most interesting developments of the meeting was the inclusion of Palestine as a member of the FIM, under the Palestinian Motor Sport and Motorcycle Federation.

The Federation, in existence since 2005, organises a number of mainly car events, but with FIM membership are now free to expand their remit to two wheels.

The FIM also approved a new championship, the FIM Speedway World League, with six teams representing three Speedway leagues, and awarded a number of commemorative plates to mark major anniversaries to members, including:

•    Kazakhstan (AMFK): 20th
•    Ukraine (FMU): 20th
•    Panama (UPM)    : 20th
•    Liechtenstein (LMV): 30th
•    Zimbabwe (ZMSF): 50th
•    Bahrain (BAMF): 60th
•    Guatemala (FNMG): 60th
•    Malaysia (AAM): 80th
•    Finland (SML): 90th
•    Luxembourg (MUL): 90th
•    Belgium: 100th
