MCN takes action against scammers

1 of 1

MCN’s bikes for sale website now has the greatest number of anti-scamming filters, meaning it’s the safest place to buy or sell your bike.

Scammers steal £1000s from motorcyclists each year, by either placing false adverts, or conning sellers out of their bikes. But despite knowing about their activities, most websites can’t stop the scammers because they manage to evade the automatic detection software.

The difference on www.MCNbikesforsale.com is that every single advert is manually checked to catch the hundreds that slip through the automatic filters.

MCN’s market-leading security now includes:

1. All road-legal private bikes for sale are theft-checked for free, and details of the check are included in a freely downloadable buyer’s pack, containing useful buying advice, unique to each bike.

2. All adverts submitted to MCN are manually reviewed, ensuring that few – if any – fake ads make it through to the site.

3. All responses sent to our advertisers are subjected to a three stage scam filtering process, reinforced with manual monitoring. This means if you advertise your bike on MCN you will only get genuine responses. In December and January, MCN blacklisted 300 scammers, and stopped 1000s of scam emails reaching sellers.

4. Sellers’ email addresses are never revealed, and temporary phone numbers are allocated for free – meaning you don’t even need to publish you own phone number.

5. There is a free 7 day warranty on the majority of private bikes for sale

An advert for an unbelievably bargain price 2009 Harley-Davidson XL1200C Sportster with 3000 miles for just £3000, failed to pass manual verification. The advert never made it live to the site, but MCN posed as a potential seller to highlight the dynamics of a scam (and waste the scammer’s time).
