Rare scooter highlight of auction

1 of 1

This rare 1959 Rumi Formichino is the highlight of the H and H auction taking place on May 24 at The Pavillion Gardens in Buxton, Derbyshire.

The Formichino is one of seven classic motorcycles up for auction, with other bikes such as a 1946 BSA C11 and a 1971 Honda CB125J also included.

Made by the Italian factory Rumi, the 1959 Bol d’Or with a 125cc two-stroke engine was the most sought after of the Formichino models and was the fastest scooter of its day, producing 8.5 bhp at 7200 rpm.

This scooter was restored in 1997 by Eddy Jackson. It is still in good working condition and has an MOT until September 2012. The estimated price tag is £4000-5000.

Anyone interested can bid on the day at the auction site, by telephone or online. Further information at www.classic-auctions.com or phone 08458 334455.
