Motorcycle Headstone

Not something you see every day. Was on a push bike tour across France earlier in the year and stopped to take a photo of a rather photogenic church in Anneville-Ambourville in Normandy.

It was only when I’d done this that I noticed one of the gravestones was significantly different from the rest and required closer inspection. I know little about motor bikes or gravestone sculpture but was suitably impressed by what I found.

As far as I could make out this was carved from a single piece of granite and is full size. Am sure somebody there can Identify it. I cannot find any details of the young man who tragically lost his life at a young age but clearly his passion was motor cycles.

His loved ones felt this was strong enough to commission this memorial to sit in rural France, perhaps it demands a wider audience.
