An 18-year-old’s 24,000 mile charity motorcycle ride which has raised almost £100,000 for injured military patients and their families has been honoured in Parliament.

Oliver Plunkett rode a Yamaha XT660Z Tenere on his own along the entire length of the Americas starting in Argentina and ending up in Alaska to raise money for Fisher House which aims to be a ‘home away from home’ for military patients and families.

He has so far raised £97,000; almost at his £100,000 target and last week was a guest at a reception at the House of Commons by his MP Gisela Stuart in recognition of his efforts.

The event was a mix between a fundraiser and a thank you to people who have helped, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Members of Parliament, High Ranking Army Officers, Friends, Family and Crescent Motorcycles which prepared the bike.

The Voltcom Suzuki World Superbike team also has a money-can’t-buy auction prize to help add even more funds to Fisher House UK. The team will be supplying two VIP passes for the weekend of the British round of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park in England on the 24th-25th May, which will include the following:

  • Hospitality with the team Saturday (qualifying) and Sunday (races)
  • Personal meeting with our riders Eugene Laverty (World Superbike Championship Runner-up 2013) and a soon to be announced new signing
  • Personal visit and engineering guide to the team’s pit-box with an overview of the Suzuki GSX-R1000 and a professional photo sitting on the bike taken by the renowned WSB and MotoGP photographers Gold and Goose
  • Team clothing for the two guests

This fantastic experience already has an offer of £2,000. If you would like to bid higher please send your offer, with ‘Auction Bid’ in the subject bar to tim.walpole@crescent-motorcycles.com

The closing date is 17.00hrs on December 19.
