World exclusive: New BMW R1200GS engine spotted

These world exclusive spy shots show BMW‘s new 2010 R1200GS with the new double overhead cam (DOHC) engine first revealed in MCN on August 19.

From the pictures it appears there are no changes to the styling of the adventure bike apart from clear indicator lenses – the DOHC engine is the only major change.

Close inspection of the pictures – taken by a German spy photographer – shows the cylinderhead has two rather than four retaining bolts as seen on the current bike. The HP2 has two bolts.
