2010 Triumph Rocket III: more power, torque, ABS and a new name

Triumph‘s 2300cc Rocket has more power, more torque, ABS as standard, a different riding position and a new name – making it the Hinckley firm’s most dramatically uprated bike in 2010.

The renamed Rocket III Roadster’s power is hiked an unspecified amount, but torque rises 15% to 165lb-ft – double a Yamaha R1 – with ABS making a welcome debut on the 302kg hot rod. New ergonomics change the riding position, giving what Triumph calls “A completely different riding experience from its predecessor.”

New rear suspension units offer a more comfortable and controlled ride than the previous Rocket III, while the main components including forks, yokes and shocks take on a blacked out appearance to reinforce the Rocket III’s ‘bad boy’ image.

The new paintschemes are metallic Phantom Black or an “aggressive” Matt Black. New twin cans have been ‘optimised’ to serve up a more pleasing sound. Triumph says the changes lift the bike out of its cruiser niche and into a new category: “Ultimate muscle streetfighter”.
