Milan bike show: BMW Concept C scooter

1 of 8

BMW has just unveiled the Concept C – a prototype scooter giving a glimpse of how BMW’s first big scooter will look when a production machine is released in the next few years.

The Concept C (C stands for Commuter) has a brand new twin cylinder engine of an undisclosed capacity with CVT transmission. The styling takes cues from across the BMW range (the aluminium side pods are like a GS, the two small wings on the front like an S1000RR), but with a new look deliberately designed to stand out from existing scooter designs.

BMW’s intention is to produce two different scooter designs, plus another version with an electric engine. It’s claimed the Concept C combines bike-like dynamics with scooter practicalities. Typical of a concept, it exhibits features designed to grab attention rather than actually pre-empt the production bike’s spec – the rear-view cameras for example, and the radial brakes are massive overkill. And don’t expect blue tyres, either.
