MV Agusta’s Triumph Street Triple killer spied

MV Agusta’s all-new 675cc Brutale has been spied testing for the first time. The bike is a naked version of MV’s F3 675cc inline triple sportsbike, and will rival Triumph’s big-selling Street Triple R.

Bosses at the iconic Italian firm have also revealed they are planning an 800cc inline three-cylinder version of the Brutale, an 800cc sportsbike, a 675 road-going super-motard and even a sports tourer further into the future too.

The new Brutale was spotted on a small country road less than two miles from the factory in Varese, Italy as it was undergoing road endurance testing. Its 675cc three-cylinder motor will produce between 115bhp and 120bhp (MV are still deciding the final tune of the production bike) and it will be on sale in 2012 with an estimated price tag of around £7800. If sales of Triumph’s 675 Street Triple are anything to go by, the new Brutale could be the biggest-selling MV of all time.

MV boss Giovanni Castiglioni has already told MCN the firm aims to sell the bike for £7800 (€9000), which is only £500 more than the less powerful and lower-specification Triumph Street Triple R.

The bike will share the same engine layout as the F3 sportsbike, but will have different camshafts, valves and ignition, and is capable of producing 120bhp at 13,000rpm and 57lb ft of torque, say MV. The engine will share the cases, gearbox, counterbalance shaft, crankshaft and conrods with its faired stablemate.
