Money off new Suzukis for 2012

Suzuki has launched a combined cashback, cheap finance and £1 deposit offer. So if you want a new GSX-R1000, you can pop in to your Suzuki dealer, pay £1, get £1000 cash back and then pay £319.52 a month for three years (that’s 3% APR).

The scheme applies to nine new Suzuki models, as follows:

Suzuki GB general manager, Paul de Lusignan, said: "With £1000 off the 2011 GSX-R1000 and no model in the promotion with less than £600 cash back, it really does offer a significant saving. Then when you consider the low rate finance over three, four or five years and a minimum deposit of just one pound required, it starts to tempt even the most frugal of motorcyclists."

Pointless

The silly high list prices are one thing but unless the dealership really wants to take a trade-in they will offer next to nothing. I've an 08' low mileage B-king in mint condition and they offered £4300 whilst displaying basically the same bike for £6995. Only Suzuki I'm likely to consider is a used or if the build it a Mk3 Hayabusa..others models are just dull with no imagination and some dubious looking flimsy parts. Also made the mistake of buying new 2 years ago and lost £4k a year later when I traded it in...upside is that I got a better 2nd hand bike.

About time but still not enough...

This is a good step in the right direction. Here in South Africa, I bought the first 2006 ZX14 to arrive in Cape Town back then for ZAR105,000. The new one arriving in Feb 2012 will cost around ZAR159,000 and I can promise you that inflation has not increased that dramatically nor has our currency weakened by 50% to justify this increase. Also considering the 2006 ZX14 was a whole new bike and the 2012 version is just an update makes it seem even more ridiculous. In the U.S. the economy was so shot that they were dropping prices left, right & centre. Here we still operate at an interest rate of 10% and prices have only increased (to supposedly make up profit for loss of sales - duh). Here's an idea, drop the prices and instill buyer confidence and SELL SOME BIKES!!! Don't know if any of you are also eperiencing this phenomenon in your countries, but its just a tad pathetic to me. I see Yamaha has dropped their prices considerably for 2012, good for them, maybe I'll go back to riding one of those.

This is all well and good for those who buy on credit but what if you save up the cash and are not looking for a Finance option?

Dealerships generally don't give significant discounts on NEW bike purchases when you can stump up all the cash up at the time of taking delivery.

A number of people have been stung on relying on credit to finance purchases, especially in these hard times. I will only buy when I have saved up the sum required - now if these manufacturers offered a lower list price for cash up front, that would really make me think about handing over my money to them.

Oh and Suzuki do allow the cashback to come off the price of the bike instead of giving you cash so less to borrow.

I think this is pretty good. To use me as an example, looking at a brand new sv 650s. 500 deposit and it's only 94 per month over 4 years! Ok if u have cash to buy used then better doing that but I don't. For me I could only borrow a much smaller sum of 3500 over 4 years for a used bike, for a similar amount. 4 % is very good just now. Just my thoughts, yes we are getting ripped off compared to other countries but that's old news. This is the way things are and if having to borrow if in the market for a bike this is a good deal.
