This is the first official image released by MV Agusta of their new model - the Rivale. Expected to be on sale in September 2013, the new 800cc triple shares a motor with a new Brutale 800, both of which are expected to be unveiled at the EICMA show in mid November. Themotor is a version of the existing F3/B3 675 unit, using a 81mm bore to achieve the capacity increase.

The Rivale clearly exhibits some Ducati-esque styling cues, with elements from both the Hypermotard (handguards and front end) and Diavel (seat unit and numberplate hangar), but there’s no doubting the MV Agusta identity of the whole package.

The beautifully integrated tank, seat and tail unit sit over the trademark cast / trellis frame, and distinctive triple-ported exhaust system first seen on the F3. With the Brutale 920 dropping out of the range for 2013, ahead of a cleaned up 1090 range, and the anticipated debut of a Brutale 800, the Rivale should be a strong addition to the range, fulfilling hedonists' appetite for a mid-market urban street bike.

We'll bring you full details of all the new models in our Milan show coverage, starting 14.11.12.
