Aprilia RS250 Simoncelli tribute

andysxv550, 10 July 2012 15:08

It's not quite finished yet but here's what I've been working on for the past couple of months. It started out as a fairly scruffy Aprilia RS250 which I stripped, cleaned, serviced, MoT'd etc. I added the RS body work, pipes and carbon bits from Jap4performance, and then set about painting it. I don't have a workshop so all this was done in the back ...

My turbocharged trike

Anonymous, 24 January 2012 18:48

Here's my trike, powered by a turbocharged Rewaco 1.6 Z-tec motor, producing 185bhp at the minute. I'm a paraplegic and I use it for rallys thoughout the year. I usually cover about 12/13k a year so does get used - not like some of these summertime bikers and their bikes! Towards the end of the year the motor will be getting more power. I'm ...

Hand built 'retro' is 125 money

MCN, 19 August 2011 12:16

With continuing resurgence in interest in 70s and 80s superbikes, riders are once again buying bikes from their youth. But unless you're after a true 'classic' version - ie original and standard - there are two problems with that: first you'll quickly learn that their performance leaves a lot to be desired, particularly from a modern perspective. And secondly, many ...

Build your own electric road racer

Dan Aspel, 01 July 2011 11:27

Mavizen, the organisers of the electric TT, have dramatically slashed the cost of buying an electric race bike, to less than £8000. There’s just one catch – you’ll have to build it yourself. This is no DIY home-build special though. The Mavizen LEO.X can only be bought as a complete package, which includes a five-day college course on electrical theory, ...

Brit team builds super-cool Hog

Michael Neeves, 01 July 2011 11:19

Shaw Harley’s dirt-style, Sportster-based "XLST3" is without doubt the coolest motorcycle I’ve ever ridden. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but if I had a spare £25,000, I’d have myself one of these in the blink of an eye. Never have I wanted to own a bike I’ve tested so badly, let alone a Harley – ...

The Ninja with NOS. And speakers.

MCN, 27 May 2011 17:37

Heaven to some, vile sacrilege to others. The owners of this ZX-10R have blinged it up with an MTX speaker system and a nitrous oxide system to boot. They’ve even given the same treatment to a ‘Busa. Bless ‘em. MCN’s Chief Road Tester Trevor Franklin isn’t impressed: “They must be p****s” is all we can get from him on the ...

Meet the Narley – oh wait, they called it a Norley

Guy Procter, 05 May 2011 13:24

That most promiscuous of motorcycle frames, the Norton featherbed, has mated again – this time with a Harley. And it’s produced a handsome mongrel that’s for sale in aid of charity Curing Kids Cancer. Santiago Choppers' owner Alan Bernard built the bike using a 1200cc Harley Sportster engine installed in a Norton frame using the Café Racer style bodywork and ...

KTM 525 EXC: now Roland Sands has the best bikes AND customers

Guy Procter, 08 April 2011 17:10

This is Roland Sands’ latest take on his ‘cafe-moto’ theme, just picked up by its delighted new owner. And a lovely pair they make. Roland, we hate you. About the bike“Happiness comes in many forms and today it comes in the color of a beautiful ripe California grown tangerine. What started out as a rough build has been molded into ...
