Motorcyclists can join POLITE force

Steve Farrell, 14 June 2013 13:13

Motorcyclists have been told they can legally wear a high-visibility vest that resembles police uniform. The yellow bibs have the word ‘polite’ printed on the back in large capital letters, along with a strip of blue-and-white crosshatching similar to designs traditionally worn by police. Cyclists in London already wear them to get drivers to give them more space, after Met ...

Staff blog: In defence of the Burgman, pt 1

Steve Farrell, 13 June 2013 10:41

I’m experiencing mild frustration at some of the preconceptions I’ve encountered about the Burgman. If you’ve read my replies to reader comments under my previous blog entries, you may have detected a hint of defensiveness.   Although I’m really enjoying using the Burgman, for example, people keep telling me to get rid of it. So far five reader comments have ...

Staff Blog: Not so naked now

Andy Davidson, 10 June 2013 17:02

I have finally fitted a screen from German firm MRA. The aftermarket plastic is not specifically designed for the Z800 but is a racing screen built for newer, aggressively-styled naked bikes. I fitted the screen in about 15 minutes with an Allen key and a screwdriver in the office car park. Everything smoothly slotted into place and the shield looks ...

Andy Downes, 10 June 2013 11:59

The odometer clicked through 6000 miles on the Multistrada 1200 S Touring on the way to work this morning and in light of this approaching milestone I spent three hours giving the bike a deep clean over the weekend. After riding to Italy in the dry two weeks ago but then riding almost all 1100miles home in lashing rain the bike ...

Based on the current inline-three cylinder F3 675 supersports machine, MV says it tips the scales at the same 175kg (dry). Staff blog: How much?

Steve Farrell, 04 June 2013 10:14

I got a shock when I saw the price of new standard rear tyre for the Burgman 650 ABS Executive from a Suzuki dealer: £184 plus £30 for fitting.   The first one has just been replaced during the 4000 mile service, which costs £135. So that’s a total of £349.   I do 800 miles a week commuting to ...

Alison Silcox, 03 June 2013 08:05

What glorious weather, waking up on Saturday morning with sun streaming through the window I had no excuse but to get out on the Yamaha Fazer8 and ride. My other half was helping mates at the Bemsee round being held at Oulton Park so with that as the destination I set out on my day’s ride. It’s 140 mile ...
