Two million speeding tickets a year issued to motorists

Official government figures have revealed that almost two million speeding tickets are being issued to motorists a year. Since Labour came to power the amount of speeding tickets has almost trebled from 700,000 a year to 1.9 million. Along with an increase in the basic speeding fine, this means speeding tickets now raise £120 million a year.

Scooter rider injured as rope strung across road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a rope strung across a road caused injury to a rider. Angela Whitehouse of Royston, Barnsley, was travelling on her Piaggio scooter when she rode into the rope. She suffered head and leg injuries, but is now recovering at home. Any witnesses should contact Barnsley Police on 01226 736030, or contact Crimestoppers.
