3500 join Unity Ride

1 of 1

A huge number of people joined the London Unity Ride on Sunday August 21, with organisers claiming around 3500 motorcycles and 4000-plus people.

The ride was to show unity and support for the people of London, following the acts of terrorism in July 2005. The ride was supported by the Metropolitan Police Tasking Unit, which provided an escort to look after the convoy, and assist with the traffic flow. As a result, just a handful of bikes suffered porblems with overheating on a hot, sunny day.

Riders travelled from across the country to join the ride, which visited the locations of the London bombings, and eventually finished at the Ace Cafe. The organisers are now busy creating a DVD of footage from the event, which will be sold with proceeds going to the support fund for the victims of the bomings.
