Morini MM3 to production

Moto Morini has given it’s BMW R1200GS-rivalling adventure bike the green light to go into production in 2008. 

The MM3 was shown at last year’s Milan Show, and positive reaction from the public has convinced Morini to turn the bike into a production model.

Moto Morini spokesman Claudio Cannarella told MCN: “The MM3 concept that you have seen in Milan will go into production with some changes.”

Exact spec has not been decided at this stage of development. The concept bike featured advanced rider aids including traction control, ‘fly-by-wire’ throttle and anti-lock brakes to make it safer in the wet.

This technology may not make the final production bikes – adding new technology would push the price way above competitor bikes from Ducati, Triumph and BMW. 

ABS is likely to make the final bike though, as buyers expect it on this type of bike.

The Marabese Design bodywork isn’t likely to change much, and the chassis and engine specification won’t change drastically – keeping the Corsaro 1200 derived frame, swingarm and 17” wheels. 

The engine will be retuned from 138bhp Corsaro spec, making 125bhp. Suspension is longer and more compliant than the stiff Corsaro, but retains the high specification internals and adjustability.

Morini are far from deciding a price at the moment, but it is likely to be close to the £8,999 Corsaro, placing it firmly in competition with the BMW R1200GS (which costs £9,095).
