A massive Indian motorcycle manufacturer has said it wants to team up with Triumph or Ducati to help boost its sales and product line.
Bajaj Auto, one of world’s largest motorcycle builders, currently has a range limited to just 250cc and says it wants to build bigger and better machines.
A spokesman for the company said: “Bajaj knows a status European brand like Ducati or Triumph would give its products a premium tag in the Indian market and also drive up export growth to developed markets like those in Europe.”
Marketing analysts in India are convinced Bajaj is also beginning talks with Yamaha about a bigger motorcycle range, but the firm has yet to make an official statement on the move.
Hero Honda Motors in India recently overtook Bajaj as India's largest manufacturer of two wheelers.
