Transport Minister Dr Stephen Ladyman refused to rule out bikes could be made to pay in future congestion charging schemes.
In response to a question, Ladyman said: “Exemptions in any local schemes that may get proposed will be for the local proposers to put forward but the London Congestion Charge includes a motorbike exemption so I have no doubt that areas that follow them will take similar exemptions very seriously.”

Congestion charge
Ridiculous to charge us if this is truly a congestion charge when we don't cause congestion. Political dynamite as well - congestion charges could yet prove to be this government's poll tax!
Could MCN organise a Downing Street petition on exemptions for bikes? I recently signed a general one against the congestion charge in Manchester.

congestion charging
sorry if i'm being a bit selfish (to pay £10.00 annually to recevie my 100% discount) or lazy (to register my bike to tfl annually to receive my 100% discount) on the motorbike comunity if i'm wrong, but the congestion charge for the motorbike has started !!! you now have to pay £10.00 to tell transport for london that your bike is 1 meter or less in width at it's widest point (excluding wing mirrors) and 2 meters or less in lenght. surly this is pretty obvious that i single motorbike is within this critera covers most motorcycles on the road !! and we have to pay tfl to tell them this infomation even though the motorbike does not cause congestion !! not sure if i have ever seen a motorbike with side car in london ever !!
but what a brilliant way to get money out of motorcyclist's eh !! this proves it's yer money they want any way they can.
