Yamaha is to show a rash of new models at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show in Japan this weekend.

Three new bikes – the WR250R, WR250X and YP250 Majesty scooter - will be unveiled. The two WRs are both fully road-legal machines which carry over the WR name from the firm’s enduro machines. The WR250R is an off-road style machine, while the X version is a sticky-tyred supermoto based on the same chassis and engine but with smaller 17-inch wheels and a bigger front brake.

Both bikes use a DOHC, four-valve single in an alloy beam frame, although the chassis and engine are both actually different from the motorsport-oriented WR250F enduro machine.

The YP250 Majesty is a completely new machine, including the latest technology such as a thumb-operated gearchange, which makes its twist-and-go CVT gearbox simulate a conventional manual box, and a remote key to start the bike and unlock the seat.

At the moment, it’s not known whether any of the bikes will be offered for sale in the UK.
