Tests have revealed that the new Honda Hornetmakes 98bhp on an independent dyno – only two bhp shy of Honda’s claimed output.

The bike uses a detuned version of the latest CBR600RR engine instead of the ancient CBR600F motor used in the old bike.

In MCN’s test in January, the new CBR made 107bhp at the back wheel, only 9bhp up on the new Hornet, an early production example of which has been dyno tested by Italian magazine Motociclismo.
