Finished Triumph Street Triple spied by MCN

Triumph’s 675 Street Triple has been caught in final testing by MCN’s spy snappers.

The factory has made no no secret of the fact it’s about to launch a naked version of the Daytona 675 and our photographers have been out in force catching the bike undergoing the final stages of testing.

Even Triumph dealers have so far only been shown a computer-generated picture of the bike and all the prototypes spotted testing so far have been unfinished lash-ups which gave little clue to the bike’s final specification. But now we can reveal spy photos of the finished machine, which is complete right down to the new “Street Triple” badges on the tail unit.

Initially, it appears that simply stripping the bodywork from a Daytona 675 and bolting on Speed Triple lights would provide an instant small naked bike. But Triumph’s engineers have taken a much more rigorous route to creating the bike, altering virtually everything except the frame and fuel tank of the original Daytona.
The result is a bike that will cost as little as £5500, despite having its roots in the £7199 Daytona 675.

According to Triumph’s engineers, the bike’s engine is basically the same as the Daytona 675, but retuned to offer a punchier mid-range. 

Power is likely to be down slightly, at around 108bhp.
