We’re riding the new BMW F800GS tomorrow (Wednesday). It’s based on the F800S/ST Roadster but given the ‘adventure’ treatment, to ape their most popular models.

It’s got an all-new chassis, bodywork, suspension plus the usual huge range of BMW accessories including an on-board computer. BMW claim the F800GS should be the perfect middle-range variant of its popular GS series; we’ll be riding it both on and off road extensively. In the flesh it looks like it should live up to that promise.

After that we’ll be riding the new F650GS, which despite being a 650 is also a derivative of the F800GS. It’s so named because it is going to replace the old F650GS single, so should be the perfect all-purpose bike for novices.
